Beach Breakdown: Padre Island North to South

Most of your time will be spent at the beach on your summer vacation so you want to know what to expect. Whether you are looking to just relax or take on the watersports and beach activities, Padre Island beaches will not disappoint. We want to highlight the multiple beaches at the different parts of Padre Island – Port Aransas, Corpus Christi, and South Padre.

Port Aransas

The beaches of Port Aransas are on Mustang Island, which has three main beaches. The beach at Port Aransas South Jetty is perfect for watching ships and watercrafts as it sits next to the Corpus Christi Ship Channel. Also, keep your eyes open for dolphins playing in the channel. Another beach to highlight is the IB Magee Beach where the Horace Caldwell Fishing Pier is located. Enjoy beautiful views of the ocean on one side and the city of Port Aransas on the other. Lastly is the beach that can be reached by Beach Access Road 1 and 2. Any of these beaches are perfect for some fun family time and relaxation.

Corpus Christi

Corpus Christi has multiple amazing beaches to choose from, but we will just focus on a few. With Padre Island being the longest stretch of undeveloped barrier island in the world, the Padre Island National Seashore occupies miles of protected, uninhabited nature that has it all! With that being said, this is a place to not only enjoy the beautiful beach, but also the surrounding nature, birds, scheduled activities, and so much more. J.P Luby Surf Park/ North Packery Channel is a local favorite and attracts active young adults looking to have fun in the sun. Dive in with the natives and hit the waves with a surfboard or jump into a game of volleyball. The Bay also has great beaches, such as McGee Beach. This beach is in the perfect location with restaurants and rentals close by. It is closed to traffic, so it is very safe for children, and provides a great fishing spot along the jetties. With many other beaches to choose from in Corpus Christi, you will be able to find something fun and new in each spot.

South Padre

Like the other parts of Padre Island Beach, South Padre has the luxury of getting use out of the Gulf of Mexico and Laguna Madre. With multiple restaurants right on the water on both sides of the island, the beaches are great for enjoying a cocktail on the patio after soaking up hours of sun. Watch or participate in many of the watersports at many of the beaches, like surfing at Isla Blanca Park. Many people enjoy taking advantage of the shallow water and crisp wind of Laguna Madre in South Padre for kite boarding.

Soak up the sun, indulge in a book, wiggle your toes in the sand, throw a football in the waves, or enjoy a yummy drink under the umbrella on one of these gorgeous beaches in Padre Island. Thrill-seekers may want to try their hand in kite boarding, kayaking, skim boarding, or snorkeling. Fishing is a very popular activity among residents and visitors from north to south, in the Gulf and Laguna Madre. With multiple fishing spots from piers, jetties, and right from shore to the deep blue on a fishing boat, there is an endless opportunity to catch multiple species of fish. With the option of driving right up onto the beach, camping, and enjoying multiple fun activities, these beaches will appeal to everyone! Let us help you plan the perfect trip to see some of the most stunning beaches of Southern Texas.
